I can’t believe how fast time flies. I can’t believe that it has already been 1.5 years. I still remember being hesitant about it at the start, about how this journey is going to be like. Just like any other relationship, I was afraid that I couldn’t commit enough time to sustain this relationship. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a shot. It was definitely the best decision I’ve made in my life thus far.

This relationship will always be something that I’ll cherish. Just like what Faye from By MY Side said, “you’ll always be a part of my story”. But I guess it is time for me to move on. Here’s me leaving you with some Thank You’s.

Thank you for pushing me out of my comfort zone,

Asking me to try new skills that I’d never wanted to touch;

Thank you for expanding my learning zone,

Although I didn’t know that much.

Thank you for introducing me to new friends,

Friends who aren’t just from your university,

But from all over Malaysia,

And even friends from other countries.

Thank you for empowering me,

To always make a positive change;

Thank you for making me see,

The world as a whole;

Diving deep into the current reality.

You’ve sparked so many interesting conversations,

Conversations that are often not talked about with many;

Be it world issues, sensitive topics, etcetera,

You always empowered me to have my own stand.

It wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine throughout our relationship.

I’ve had breakdowns,

I wanted to give up halfway;

Sometimes, I felt that things weren’t going right,

Which made us fight.

But I’m glad that we managed to talk it out

I’m thankful for all the debates,

The expectation settings and feedbacks we gave to one another

Which made us grow to become better versions of ourselves.

Setting our goals together was inspiring,

Constantly striving and hustling was just our thing;

We always kept each other accountable,

Even if our goals are uncountable!

You brought out the best in me,

And you even brought me out to dance in public;

Together, we made our own culture,

A culture that will always be embedded in me.

I’ve so much more to say,

About our entire journey together;

But I guess I’ll leave it as it is this way,

And look forward to a brighter future.

Thank YOU for everything you’ve done. Thank YOU, AIESEC. Being an AIESECer for 1.5 years, I can really understand why AIESECers always say, “in a relationship with AIESEC”.

Yesterday marked the last day of my term as an AIESECer, so here’s just a post dedicated to my journey thus far and the experiences that AIESEC has exposed me to.

Term 2017/2018

Macha-Latte

I started off as a Junior Executive in Marketing and Communications (MarComm), AKA MaCha-Latte fam. I was someone who never wanted to touch photo and video editing as I was more on the idea side, not the technical side. But I’m happy to say that AIESEC really pushed me out of my comfort zone. Learning how to edit while watching YouTube tutorials was really such a pain. Looking back, it was worth it after all as these skills are very relevant in the course I’m pursuing. Shoutout to my VP, Ash, for guiding us! Thanks for still looking out for us even though you’ve already retired, heh.

First departmental meeting with the MaCha-Latte fam back then in 2017!

Term 2018/2019

Double Cheese Burgers

Here’s an appreciation to my Double Cheese Burgers, y’all have been the greatest support.

To Tris, thank you for leading B2C and giving me a chance to take the lead in Winter 2018. I won’t lie, it was scary to jump from being a member to a VP. Nevertheless, it was a journey that I’d never regret.

To my directors, Carmen and Winnie, thank you for Flippin’ Burgers together, and for being there for the team and myself. Thank you for believing in me even when I was afraid. Thank you for giving your best for our members.

To my Burgers, my members, thank you for all your dedication. It was a pleasure working with y’all and I’m so glad that we made it through together. I’ll miss all our cringy moments and laughing and lame memes!

Some out of our many memories!

To my MCVP, Veron,

I came in fresh not knowing much, but you were so patient with me and never pressured me. You understood where I was coming from and the current reality I’m in. Thank you for always being there for me and for wanting the best for my LC. You played a huge role in my AIESEC journey and I couldn’t thank you enough. All the best as MCP; you’ll do great, I’m sure!

Thanks for everything, Veron! ❤

EBaes

To my EBaes, thank you for accepting me in and being so warm when I first came in in Winter 2018. Y’all are like family to me and I really hope that we can stay this close till forever. Thank you for all the meetings, discussions, debates, fun times, and most of all, being each other’s support system. Y’all are indeed the true definition of People for Performance.

Till next time, baes!

LCTU

To my LC, thank you for being so supportive of one another. What touches me the most is seeing members from different departments bond together. We may be in different departments, but we’re still from one LC and that’s what matters most. I can only foresee LCTU striving for greater heights year after year, gunning for that Top Gun!

To my successor, Julian,

All the best on embarking on this new journey. It may be scary, but it is one that you’ll never regret. I believe and know that you have what it takes to bring B2C to where you envision it to be. Chase your dreams, no matter how much they may scare you. In exactly a year, you’ll look back on this journey knowing you did it! ❤
