SO fortunate to be a part of “The Fortunettes, A Retro Musical”. A journey embarked from December 2016 till March 2017 which has brought 27 strangers together; now bonded like family. Growing up, I’ve watched musicals such as Mama Mia, Shrek, Wizard of Oz, and several others. It has always been my dream to perform in musicals. Being a part of The Fortunettes has turned my dreams into reality.

The story was set throughout the 1960’s revolving around friendship, fame, and love of four best friends, which led to the disbandment of their girl band -The Fortunettes. Despite going in separate ways, the girls reunited again after twenty years for a reunion concert.

I was selected to be a part of the ensemble. It was really tough at the start as I’m a newbie, and we had so many dance moves to memorize. We had rehearsals every weekend, and on the week of our performance, we had full runs every day!

Here’s a glimpse of what the musical was like.

We were also featured various newspapers, magazines, TV shows as well as radio channels! Here’s one of it.

A candid taken during our official photo shoot! Picture credits to Mr. Pang. Special thanks to Backstage Academy for doing our hair & make up!

Behind the scenes of our rehearsals.

I’m definitely going to miss tying Cheryl’s dress together with Krystal!

We did it! ❤

Saying goodbye to our second home – the theater. Special thanks to the Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC), for providing us with their awesome facilities.

Here’s a shout out to these people and all the others who came to support our musical.

The cast having a mini reunion! Can’t wait for our official cast party! 😀

Thank you once again to The Fortunettes family for making my first musical experience the best it could ever be. To my director, Mr Zac, you’re so patient. Thank you for bringing out our talents to be showcased on stage and for always believing in us. I do hope to work with you again in the future. To Nic, Aron, Perine, Allison, and all the other crew, thank you for being there for us. This musical wouldn’t have been a success without every single one of you! 🙂

Love, Janice
